May these words resonate

1–2 minutes

Poem by: Hannah Carter

Thank you

Blessed are the days,

When the sky is not blue, it’s grey.

Thank you

For the dry soil where plants one day grow

And the empty building before it’s a home

Remember the places where smiles were born

But don’t forget where your fabric was torn

So sit here, for now, in this dark cave

And mark it

And thank it

For the path it will pave

You are the bright sky that clears

And you are the beautiful flower that rears

You are the soft voice your loved one hears

That lets them breathe,

And washes their tears

Leaves will fall, and rain disappears

That cruel voice in your head

Will one day be loving whispers in your ears

You –

You are the blue

And you are the water

You are your Bad Day’s daughter

And you will be better, you’ll be your own wife

You, my love, are the circle of your life

You’re in the corridor now, so go further

Tripped out of one room

Awaiting another

The keys though, they’ll fall in your little hands

And you’ll find a lock that honours your plans

Not perfectly, at first

You’ll try a few times and tears will burst

But like snowflakes that land

Some are broken,

And some fall perfectly in the palm of your hand

You’ll remember how joy feels

And remember then that you are able to heal

You might come back to this cave one day

But remember it’s temporary

It’s not here to stay.
