As a Children and Young People’s counsellor, I help you make sense of what’s going on in your head and your life.
You can talk about anything — stress, school, family, friendships, identity, anxiety, big feelings, or stuff you don’t feel comfortable saying anywhere else. I use a proactive and supportive approach to help you understand what’s going on in your life. I’m person‑centred — which means the sessions are all about you, your experiences, and what you need. You’re in control, and we go at your pace.
My job isn’t to judge or tell you what to do. It’s to listen, support you, and help you find your own ways to cope, feel stronger, and understand yourself better. It’s your space, your pace, and your voice that matters.
Everyone is different, so I use a variety of tools — talking, creative activities, grounding techniques, problem‑solving, and coping strategies — whatever suits you best. My goal is to help you feel heard, build confidence, understand your emotions, and find practical ways to handle the tough stuff.”

What a Proactive Approach Means in CYP Counselling
A proactive approach means the counsellor doesn’t just wait for problems to grow or for the young person to find all the answers on their own. Instead, the counsellor:
- Actively supports early intervention
- Helps the young person build coping skills before challenges escalate
- Works with them to recognise patterns, emotions, and triggers
- Encourages strengths, resilience, and practical tools they can use day‑to‑day
- Uses structured techniques when helpful (e.g., grounding, goal‑setting, emotional regulation strategies)
What’s Solution focused:
I also use a solution‑focused style, helping you notice your strengths, your skills, and the small steps that can make things feel lighter. We look at what’s working, what you want to change, and how to move forward in ways that actually fit your life.
